Timothy Baker

Timothy Baker is a litigation lawyer based in Cape Town. He specialises in commercial litigation, construction and energy project disputes, insolvency (with a particular focus on liquidations and business rescue) and professional indemnity and insurance litigation. He is accomplished in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), having resolved a number of matters through mediation and arbitration.
Timothy holds a BSocSc (Economics) degree and an LLB degree from the University of Cape Town. He achieved the highest mark in the Western Cape for the litigation part of the South African Attorney’s Admission Examinations. Timothy is dual-qualified, having been admitted as an Attorney in South Africa (2003) and enrolled as a Solicitor of England & Wales (2008).
Prior to joining us, Timothy worked in the commercial litigation department of a leading Cape Town law firm. He subsequently took up a senior role at the London office of an international regulatory body for accountants and insolvency practitioners, handling matters involving insolvency law, regulatory law and professional conduct. Timothy also practised commercial litigation in a law firm in the UK before returning to South Africa at the end of 2010.
